About

Despite Liberia having a devastating past with two civil wars since 1989 and being ranked 4th poorest country in the world, Luther and Christine Tarpeh have a vision for Liberia. That is, to raise Liberian youth with a hope and a future through quality education and character development.

Luther Tarpeh was born in Liberia, has three Masters Degrees and is busy completing a Doctorate in Education and Development with Liverpool University. He is the Proprietor of Best Brains Academy.

Christine Tarpeh was born in Nigeria and has completed two Masters Degrees in the areas of Christian Education and Education Administration. She is the principal of Best Brains Academy.

Besides Best Brains Academy and the proposed Best Brains International University, Luther and Christine are also kept very busy with other projects and programs they are involved with:

Transformation Homes

  • One of the devastating consequences of the civil war was the vast number of
children left orphaned. Luther and Christine gathered orphans from the streets
and dump sites rummaging for food and with the little they had provided a home
for boys and a home for girls and called these ‘Transformation Homes’.
  • Since the civil war;

 –  More than 75 orphaned children have been assisted with education and a loving home.

 –  More than 500 children addicted to drugs and narcotic substances have
been assisted to recovery and drug-free lives by Luther and Christine.

Transformation messages on Radio

  • Luther broadcasts ‘Transformation Messages’ daily on three radio networks
across Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, and Guinea.
  • Luther’s messages are based around hope, love, service to country and
    humanity.
  • Luther’s radio segment teaches leadership principles and business ideas to help
listeners revive their lives through self-help projects. The segment also receives
calls and questions from the public.

Emerging Young Leaders

  • Luther received the Golden Image Award in 2015 for his contribution to
‘Oneness, Peace and Humanity’ at a national level. This award is presented by
the traditional Queen of Liberia, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and Culture
    Ambassador, Juli Endee.
  • Luther and Christine in 2014 held the inaugural 2-day National Student
Leadership Forum attracting emerging young leaders including University
Presidents. The event aims to encourage young leaders to reflect on their own
values, their countries need for right-ways and inspire honesty, integrity and
    servant leadership.

Peanut Butter Factory

Luther and Christine have dedicated one corner of their home to be a Peanut
Butter Factory. With a fellow Best Brains Academy teacher they blend peanuts
with baby formula and milk powder and put into sterile sealed single serve
sachets. These sachets are supplied weekly, as a one per day prescription, free
of charge to slum communities where identified malnourished children are
tracked via Mid Arm Circumference and other anthropometry data. This
program has saved the lives of many infants and children over the years.
